This drawing is the model for a lithograph with appears in Dartnell's "A brief narrative of the shipwreck of the Transport 'Premier,' near the mouth of the river St. Lawrence, on the 4th November, 1843....," (London, 1845), plate 2. The title for the present drawing is derived from the title of this print. See acc. no. 1991-129-20r for the recto drawing which shows the 'Premier' being tossed in heavy seas before breaking up.
