A view from the customs area across the basin to the Doge's palace. The foreground shows men in a variety of costumes (probably different nationalities) standing around and looking at crates. The background is the Riva degli Schiavoni, including the Marciana Library, the Piazetta with a view into the Piazza of San Marco, the Doge's palace, and the Bridge of Sighs., The change in Lady Falkland's inscription from Queen Adelaide to the Queen Dowager suggests that she received and placed the watercolour into the album at different times.
