Here & there a sopt is cleared by a new / Settler. You then see, a square spot freed from its trees, by the axe or by fire: 2dy a log hut / large enough to barely house a family; a virgin crop of (Indian) corn - a crop of cabbages; and / a splendid growth of squash (pumpkin) - a snake fence protects the young Farm (complete)
