Canada CouncilDescription:Joy Kogawa, poet and novelist, and her father, Reverend Gordon Nakayama, recount their story as Japanese-Canadian interned during World War II. They tell of the social and political climate of the time and of its after effects. Reenactments, protographs, and newspaper headlines outline the relocation of Japanese-Canadians from the coast to camps in the interior of British Columbia. Home movies taken by Nakayama and newsreel footage show life in the camp at Slocan City. Internees are shown working in sawmills, attending church, playing ice hockey, and participating in Boy Scout and school activities.Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
