Medal commemorating the Royal Visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York to the "Assembly of Indian Tribes" at Shaganappi Point, near Calgary, on September 28, 1901. During his address to the Indigenous peoples present, the Duke stated that the " [...] King has ordered that a suitable silver medal shall be struck, and one will be presented to each of the Head Chiefs [...]". In 1902, 103 silver medals were issued for Head Chiefs, and 282 bronze medals were issued for Councillors (or Sub-Chiefs).
