A bronze medal commemorating the life of Chilperic I, son of Clotaire I and ninth King of France. Upon his father's death in 561, Chilperic took possession of the Kingdom of Soissons or Neustria. However, Chilperic sought to take posession of the entire Frankish kingdom and as a result pursued a lifetime of civil war with his brothers, never to be successful in his endeavour.

The obverse side of the medal displays a bust of Chilperic I by Armand Caqué.

The reverse side of the medal is engraved with a short history of Chilperic.
