Richard Peters to [ ]. A.L.S. acknowledges letter delivered by James Ennis, whom he detained on account of rumours of disturbances on the frontiers of Pennsylvania and Jersey. All the news the Governor has received suggests the idea, that a panic has seized the inhabitants, an express sent to Northampton County will bring intelligence. Concerning amount his tickets have drawn, unless he has money to pay in the city, will forward it by first safe hand. James Ennis has letters from Pittsburg giving account of the alarm at Detroit, etc.; was furnished with a horse from Philadelphia to New York. Copies of Indian conferences at Easton contain nothing of consequence, except what relates to complaints they make against General Johnson. "Our friendly association" enraged against the Governor for not heeding Teedyuscung's demand for pay for the lands. No news from the Westward. P.S. Proposes dining with Mr. Allen when he comes to town to-morrow, and will remind him of the promise he made about his two men. Commissary gone to Pittsburg, a recruiting account exprected daily from him. Amherst's despatches left open for perusal, he has left Albany, not arrived at New York. Letter to be sealed and forwarded to the Governor. Mr. Cox's partner just come from trading at Fort Detroit, states that he saw some Deputies from the Seven Nations at Sandusky openly deliver war bolts against the English to the Wyandots at Sandusky.
