Documentary examining Canada's north and its exploration.~Reel 1: Early explorers of the north including the Vikings, Martin Frobisher, Henry Hudson, Samuel Hearne, William Baffin, and Captain Edward Perry. Other scenes of note include Perry's expedition to the North Pole and the first steam boat to enter Arctic waters.~Reel 2: The explorers of the 1800s including John Franklin, Edward Belcher, Captain John Norris, and Robert E. Peary. Topics of note include the Franklin rescue mission to the Arctic and the search for the North West passage.~Reel 3: Exploration of the north in the 1900s. Footage includes: the 1908 expedition to the North Pole by Fredrick Cook; Richard S. Finnie, a radio operator C.G.S. Arctic, discusses the frustrations of Bernier who claimed northern land for Canada; 1915 archival footage of sled dogs; an interview with Moira Dunbar concerning the existance of "Crockerland"; the first flight to the North Pole; and the first airship to the North Pole.~Reel 4: Northern exploration in the late 1900s. Footage includes: an interview with Brigadier General Keith R. Greenaway R.C.A.F. concerning the 1958 flight of the airship NORAG to the North Pole; the first submarine to reach the North Pole, the U.S.S. Nautilus; geologist J. Wm. Kerr, Phd. discusses the North West passage; Dr. Graham W. Rowley discusses the jointly run Canadian, U.S. and Duth weather stations; and the first skidoo trip to the North Pole. <2h>
