Feature length drama of Britain's involvement in World War I. The focus of the story is the household of an English Knight. Deprived of a son by his supreme sacrifice in the war, the "House" is carried on by a grandson. In an English drawing room, a lady is seated in an armchair with a baby boy on her knee. The baby is her grandson, his father having died in the First World War. Also in the drawing room is the lady's husband (the baby's grandfather) and the lady's daughter with her fiancé who is in uniform. The scene changes to a British Bobby and a lady in mourning knocking on the front door of the above house. The woman in mourning is shown into the drawing room by the butler. The grandmother hands the baby boy to the woman in mourning, who is his mother. The next scene takes place sometime later. The daughter and the fiancé arrive outside the house in an open 1922 convertible. She is driving. They alight and go into the house where they enter her father's study. The father is seated behind a desk. The fiancé discusses the marriage plans with him. This scene is interrupted by Big Ben striking 11 a.m. on Armistice Day. There are scenes of Big Ben as well as guns firing, with a group of military officers standing at attention. Also shown is the father and the engaged couple observing the two-minute silence in the study. The next scene shows the Armistice ceremony near the Cenotaph. A new scene shows the grandmother with her daughter-in-law looking at the baby boy who is playing with a toy castle and bugle. Pan to her son's photograph on a table. He is in uniform. The next scene shows a crowd at Picadilly Circus. A new scene shows the grandfather shaking hands with his future son in law. The footage includes an extreme close-up of Big Ben at 11 a.m., a medium shot of the firing of cannon, a medium shot of the Cenotaph in London, a long view of crowds in Picadilly Circus in daytime and a long view of large crowds outside Buckingham Palace, with Queen Victoria's monument in the foreground.

1. PDC card indicates that the holdings are parts 1 to 10 of 15, film can numbers 8081 to 8091.~2. The description is from a Graphic Consultants shotlist card for can 8090, which is identified as part eleven.~3. Listed in the November 1931 catalogue of the Ontario Motion Picture Bureau as a 15-reel film (reels 8081 to 8095).~4. Adrian Brunel, the creator of this film, died in 1958 - copyright expired.~5. Inspection indicates the film as a 11 part film with part 7 missing.~6. There are no vault holdings for material in the GC-8091 to GC-8095 range.
