Lecture and slide presentation on what is coined, "the death culture" by Dr. Rosalie Bertell, radiation and public health expert as well as President of the International Institute of Concern for Public Health, at an unidentified conference of teachers. Here Dr. Bertell discusses American militarism and indifference to damage done to the environment. Other topics discussed are: military accidents; radiation exposure and indigenous people, including radioactive waste and uranium mining at the Baker Lake Inuit community; job creation and the military; environmental pollution, including damage to the ozone layer and the greenhouse effect; radiation injuries and crippling, including the situation in the Marshall Islands, South Pacific; Downs Syndrome; public health policy, in particular Canada's food policy regarding radiation-contaminated animals, as well as community radiation exposure standards; radioactive iodine and other radioactive chemicals, with references to damage done to the immune and reproductive systems; nuclear power plant accidents; the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident and its impact on communities in the Ukraine as well as on the environment; the x-ray; and plutonium shipments.
