A public information show concerned with the lifestyles and issues of our society. Host Brian Smyth narrates the history of the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York, over film footage of the games and a visual montage of the area today. Smyth and Vic Hultquist interview local people about their feelings on having the controversial 1980 Winter Games held in the Lake Placid area. Mayor Robert Peacock discusses general changes in the town. Reverend J. Bernard Fell, President of the Lake Placid Olympics Organizing Committee (L.P.O.O.C.), discusses financial responsibility for the Games and the executive powers of his committee. North Elba Township clerk, Matthew Clerk, assesses the general difficulties in transportation and supply. Merchants of Lake Placid discuss the exorbitant price increases during February 1980, the period of the Games, and their confidence in an economic windfall. Jack Shea, a 1932 gold medallist speed skater, compares the mood in Lake Placid in each Olympic year. Art Devlin, a gold medallist and present vice-president of the L.P.O.O.C., describes the mood and involvement of the town in the Games planning. Smyth narrates a film tour of Lake Placid's winter sports facilities. Harry Fregoe, mayor of the Olympic Village, discusses the architectural advantages of the Village building. Smyth concludes with a general evaluation of the changes between 1932 and 1980. <30mn>
