Included are: selected volumes of conciliation board hearings for non-operating unions, 1960, that fill in gaps in accession 87/0117 of the CRLA fonds; files on conciliation boards, 1960-1973; subject files relating to safety issues and the Canadian Transport Commission's Railway Transport Committee; legal proceedings; labour brief to conciliation board regarding 40-hour week negotiations, 1950; a reference binder on the CPR and CNR pension plans, chiefly 1937-1956 but including documents on the CPR plan dating back to 1902; minutes of the CPR General Chairmen's Association, 1946-1954; statistical information on railway collective agreements and affiliated unions. Numbered Files, c.1948-1973, 2.95 metres (boxes 6 to 15). Correspondence, memoranda, minutes, reports, print matter, and other material in subject files arranged according to a numeric system. The topics include: federal legislation and programmes affecting railway workers, such as the Railway Act, the Industrial Disputes Investigation Act, unemployment insurance, and the curtailment of passenger service in Canada; questions of health/safety and working conditions; correspondence with affiliated unions; employers of railway workers, such as CN and the CPR; minutes of the CRLA (and its predecessors, such as the Dominion Joint Legislative Committee of the Transportation Brotherhoods), 1948-1971; other labour organizations, such as the CLC and the International Transport Workers Federation; and other unions who engaged the CRLA's services, such as the Canadian Air Traffic Controllers Association who used the CRLA to represent them at conciliation hearings.
