The National New Bulletin is read by Lamont Tilden and the following news items are covered: The National Chinese riot in Formosa, in an anti-American demonstration, brought about by the aquittal, by a court-marshall, of an American solider charged with killing a Chinese. Twenty-seven Cuban rebels land on S.E. Cuba in harasment of the Batista regime. Twenty twisting tornados in Texas and Mew Mexico. Threat of flooding on the Yukon River. A state of emegency is proclaimed in Dawson City. In the Federal Election Campaign, Diefenbaker renews attacks on Liberl taxation. Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent criticizes Progressive Conservative promises. M.J. Coldwell is to speak in Edmonton. The release of text, reveals that he favours a Bill of Rights for Canadians. Solon Low criticizes Liberal agricultural policies. The Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen is to merge with the Canadian Labour Congress. Canadian troops in Europe commence publication of their own paper, The Beaver. British Columbia revising officer, Mr. [Patience] resigns. Government accounts show multi-million dollar deficit, in first month of the new fiscal year. CBC News Roundup with announcer, Frank Herbert. Ned [Brooks], NBC, reports from Washington on the reaction there to the riots in Formosa. Don Gordon reports from London on the two-day defence meeting between Britain & Germany. Peter [Inglis] reports from Vancouver on Diefenbaker's swing through British Columbia , where he has drawn record crowds. James M. Minifie reports from Edmonton, on M.J. Coldwell's campaign attack on Social Credit and its undemocratic potentials. Jeff [Nightingale] reports from Morden, Manitoba, on B.C. Attorney-General Robert Bonner's Social Credit campaign speech. The report includes a recording of an exerpt from the speech. "We have allowed ourselves to be placed in a position where it is difficult for our best customers to buy from us..." Mr. Bonner expands on this theme and what Social Credit would do to counter this. He concludes with an explanation of why in BC, they speak of the Social Credit movement rather than the Social Credit Party and says that people are moving from the Old Line parties into Social Credit (applause). On POST NEWS TALK, Keith MacDonald of the National Research Council, discusses mathematics for laymen. In this third segment in a series of three, MacDonald discusses arithmetic, algebra, and geometry and justifies the claim of mathematics to be considered Queen of the Sciences. <30mn>
