Brûlé is portrayed as a gutsy, charming young man from Brittany who is taken on one of Champlain's voyages to New France as his flunky. A man of ambition and courage, he quickly adapts to his new environment, parting from his master to live among the Hurons where he became a member of the Bear clan. Later, he is tortured by the Iroquois and meets Jean de Brébeuf. Brûlé was the first white man to set foot on the site of what is now Toronto, and explored much of the areas around Lakes Ontario, Huron, Simcoe, and Superior. <57mn>Language:EnglishDetailed holdings information: -
