General note:

Painting entitled "British Frigate Narcissus, Spanish Frigate Madelina in the Vivero, on the north coast of Spain" whichmay relate to. Work by an unknown artist. The painting may have been executed during the Napoleonic Wars, during which Aylmer served on W's staff on the Iberian peninsula.
Matthew Whitworth-Aylmer, 5th Baron Aylmer (born 1775), Governor-General of canada 1830-1835, died in England 1850.
This work is not documented in accession records, nor is it mentioned in RG 37 "C" series records. There is an inscription on the reverse indicating it came from the Aylmer family.
This work was located in 0330-B020-02 as of february 1997.
