This single roll comprises all ten films shown at the first public projection of the Lumière Cinématographe which took place at 6pm, December 28, 1895, in the Salon Indien of the Grand Café, 14 boulevard des Capucines, Paris, France.~The event was hosted by Antoine Lumière: his sons Louis and Auguste were not present. The hall had seating for 100 persons: 33 persons attended.~The ten films are: WORKERS LEAVING THE LUMIÈRE FACTORY IN LYON (LA SORTIE DES USINES)~TRICK RIDING (LA VOLTIGE)~FISHING FOR GOLDFISH (LA PECHE AUX POISSONS ROUGES)~DISEMBARKATION OF PARTICIPANTS AT THE CONFERENCE ON PHOTOGRAPHY IN LYON (DÉBARQUEMENT DU CONGRES DE PHOTOGRAPHIE A LYON)~THE BLACKSMITHS (FORGERONS)~THE GARDENER (LE JARDINIER or L'ARROSEUR ARROSÉ)~THE MEAL (LE REPAS DE BÉBÉ or LE DÉJEUNER DE BÉBÉ or LE GOUTER DE BÉBÉ or LE REPAS)~JUMPING THE BLANKET (SAUT À LA COUVERTURE or BRIMADE DANS UNE CASERNE)~THE PLACE DES CORDELIERS IN LYON (PLACE DES CORDELIERS, LYON)~THE SEA (LA MER)~All ten films were shot in 1895, they were silent and there were no titles on the prints. The voice over narration in this compilation gives titles in English. 1. The running time is based on the measured length of the archives' print.~2. The Lumière films have been stretch printed to permit projection at 24fps but are slightly cropped having been printed in the 1.66:1 aspect ratio.~3. The Lumière films have been restored by the Archives du Film du Centre National de la Cinématographie (France).~4. Made available in France through Agence pour le développement régional du Cinéma, Agence du Court Métrage, Interfilm.~5. Made available internationally through the Ministère des Affaires étrangères (France), Europe Cinemas.
