Description:

Proceedings videotaped by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation of the public hearings of the Special Committee to Study the Proposed Companion Resolution to the Meech Lake Accord. Jean Charest chairs the House of Commons committee announced by Prime Minister Brian Mulroney on 26 March 1990 to study the companion resolution to the Meech Lake Accord proposed on 21 March 1990 by New Brunswick Premier Frank McKenna. This consists of the hearings held in Winnipeg, Manitoba on 26 April 1990 from 8:35 a.m. to 11:54:53 a.m. Among the organizations and individuals appearing before the committee are the Coalition of Provincial Organizations of the Handicapped, the Unitarian Church of Winnipeg, Donald Bailey, Gary Brazzell, Joseph Sherwood, Gordon Duncan, I.H. Asper, Peter Sim, Rodger Armbruster, Cyril Keeper, Paul Thomas, Annie Mills, and Olga Enns.
