General note:

Medal inscribed "République Française" encased in plexiglass awarded to Sylvia Spiegelmann in recognition of scholastic accomplishment in the Suez Canal Zone for the Primary Studies exam in May 1931. The award was presented by the French Consul in Port-Said in September 1931.
The document reads: "Consulat de France à Port-Saïd. Le Consul de France à Port-Saïd, certifie que Mlle Sylvia Sarah SPIEGELMANN, née le 24 août 1919 à Beyrouth s'est classée première du classement général des candidats de la Zone du Canal de Suez pour les examens du Certificat d'Etudes Primaires à la session de Mai 1931 et à ce titre, a obtenu la médaille d'honneur offerte par S. I. M. le Ministre des Affaires Etrangères du Gouvernement de la République Française..
En foi de quoi le présent lui a été délivré à Port Saïd, le 15 septembre 1931".
