After the march to the Cenotaph in the morning, the Canadian pilgrims who had been to Vimy were entertained in the garden at Buckinham Palace by the Duke and Duchess of York on behalf of the King. The Duchess of Gloucester, in a big hat and long grey gown with a feathered cape, moved among the guests shaking hands. Tea was served and Canadians sat on the grass having a picnic.
