Record information – Details Fonds/collection:JACKSON, C.S.Accession:1994-0227Media:SoundPart:1 of 1Production date:1981-04-24Description:Recording of notes taped by C.S. Jackson, longtime president of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers union (UE), for an upcoming speech he delivered on May 1, 1981 at Welland, Ontario. Jackson recalls his experiences organizing plants in Welland for the UE in the late 1930s. He assesses the current trade union movement, noting that the capitalist system is essentially a class struggle of the worker versus the corporation. He speaks of the evils of red-baiting, the propaganda levelled at the Soviet Union, racism, and the growth of right-wing movements. He calls on the working class to oppose all aspects of society that are detrimental to the working class.Language:EnglishDetailed holdings information: -
