Jacson, longtime president of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers union (UE) delivered at the 1983 UE Conference. Jackson begins with a discussion of the class struggle between the "transnational companies" and workers and the adverse affect on the Canadian economy. He also speaks of the need to organize the unemployed and the need for unity among protest groups such as the opposition to wage controls in the current budget. He expresses his opposition to the New Democratic Party and the Canadian Labour Congress. Side B of the original recording contains remarks of additional speakers at the conference who talk about the economic situation of Canada and the need for a national economic strategy.
