A panel discussion by and for all members of the armed forces, presented every two weeks by CBC in cooperation with the navy, army and air force as part of their programme of education. This forum takes place before a live audience at the Canadian Signal Training Centre in Barriefield, Ontario.~The topics of this program is: What do you mean by social security?~The panel consists of: two servicemen; two servicewomen (CWAC Corporals Mary [White] and Phyllis [Fox]; Staff Sergeant John R. [Devor]; Bombadier E.M. [Dolin]); two participant observers (Corporal Sidney Dillick, PhD., Sergeant Major Bud [Menten]); and chairman Donald C. MacDonald, RCNVR.~The discussion centres around the pamphlet Canada Plans Security by Dr. George F. Davidson (published in the Canadian Affairs series) and is primarily concerned with the relationship of employment to social security.~The panel agrees that a social security programs should include health, old-age, accident, family, widow and maternity benefits.~These types of benefits must be seen not as charity but as insurance that sustains "moral fibre". <30m>
