Television public affairs program with host June Callwood. 1. An interview with Martin O'Malley, "Globe and Mail" reporter and author of "The Past and Future Land". Expanding on the theme of his book, the Berger Inquiry into the proposed Mackenzie Valley Pipeline, O'Malley discusses: Berger's innovative approach to the Royal Commission; his own impressions of the Indian people gleaned through the Community Hearings; and the effect the Inquiry is having on the Canadian people at large. 2. Children's books are the topic of conversation as Callwood talks to Judy Sarrick, owner of The Children's Book Store in Toronto. Examples of literature for young readers are shown and discussed, from illustrated nursery thymes to popular paper-backs. 3. Exploring the true nature of English-French relations in Ontario, IN TOUCH presents a candid-camera sequence taken on a Toronto street. A Francophone asking directions to the airport finds many helpful Torontonians but none who speak French! 4. The founder of All About Us, Betty Nickerson, talks about the philosophy and achievements of this non-profit cultural organization. Examples of its publication are shown and poems by children from across Canada are read as examples of the creative contributions submitted by Canadian youth. Two students from Deer Park Elementary School in Toronto join Betty Nickerson in the studio and talk about their art work, which is also shown. <60mn>
