Fonds consists of photographs depicting the every day lives of individuals with Down Syndrome and their six respective families. Specifically, there are photographs of young men and women as well as many of children with Down Syndrome, all living in the Greater Toronto Area.

Biography/Administrative history:

Rochette, Marc : A Toronto-based photographer, Marc Rochette has done work on black and white documentary projects, magazines, newspapers, documentary weddings, portraits, and annual reports. Educated at Humber College, Rochette's work has been published in newspapers such as the National Post and the Globe and Mail, and magazines such as Canadian Geographic and Now Magazine.

Rochette's awards include: 2003 National Media Award Canadian Down Syndrome Association, 1999 M.I.L.K. International Award, and 1st place 1996 Canadian Geographic.

Rochette's work has also appeared in the following exhibitions: 2003 Contact photo festival, 2003 Todmorden Mills Gallery (misc. works), and 2002 Detour - Myths+Illusions (Down Syndrome work)

Rochette currently has works in progress as well, including "Play: Everday moments of childhood," "Mood: A photographic journey just below the surface of life," and "Margi and Nancy: A story of two people swimming against the cultural current."

Marc Rochette is a member of both the National Press Photographers Association and the Eastern Canadian Newspaper Photographers Association.
