The segment begins with a map of Newfoundland with shipping lanes and the railway route animated onto it. At Port aux Basques a ship's cargo is transferred to freight cars. The train is then followed as it travels along the coast past the Bay of Islands, St. John's, Cornerbrook, Botwood and Grand Falls. A map of the province is used to illustrate the route taken.~Other scenes include footage of horses and sheep, Cabot tower, ships on the river, a shot of a community that is dissolved into the same scene in an old painting, houses of St. John's, people pouring out of a church, and a horse-drawn carriage. <44mn 33s>Language:EnglishNotes:Technique:ANIMATIONDetailed holdings information: -
