Sub-series largely documents Macdonald six election campaigns, his activities with his Riding Association, his role in the Liberal Party (especially after the 1972 election), his politics in support of Toronto, and his role in the Trudeau leadership campaign in spring 1968. Several files in the sub-series, such as lists, correspondence, strategy papers, and notes show Macdonald's detailed involvement with people in his Rosedale riding and more-widely throughout Toronto and the Liberal Party. Other records include official results (with marginalia?) from 1957 and 1958, campaign literature, canvass reports, detailed accounts of fund raising, reports to Elections Canada, Ontario elections in 1963 and 1967, and various clipping and public statements. The sub-series ends with index cards of those who worked on early campaigns (vol 30).

This sub-series follows immediately after two smaller series of election records from the same period, and all three complement each other. After about mid-1973, many but not all election and constituency files were given EMR subject numbers, 150 - 159, Liberal politics. Thus election records for 1973 to 1977 are divided between this sub-series and EMR subject numbered records in four later series. (See vols 129 - 133, 142, 179 - 181, 313.) Two of the scrapbooks (vols 73 & 74) also help document Macdonald's elections.
