(Robert Comrie), 1920-2012 : Born in Montréal, Quebec, Robert C. Turner studied music with Douglas Clarke, Claude Champagne, Gordon Jacob, Roy Harris and Olivier Messiaen, among others. From 1952 to 1968, he was music producer on the CBC English network in Vancouver. He was also employed as a professor at the University of British Columbia, Acadia University and from 1969 to 1985, the University of Manitoba. The composer's most important works include the piece for piano entitled Vestiges, Symphony for Strings, Symphony in One Movement "Gift from the Sea", Symphony No. 3 and the Concerto for 2 Pianos and Orchestra.Container note(s):129 : T5
