The 984 negatives (967 b&w; 17 colour) are arranged in 11 small negative file folders, each of which contains 100 numbered glassine sleeves and a series of identification sheets which are keyed to each numbered negative. Most of the prints in the albums have been identified with the relevant negative number and, where the prints do not have an accompanying caption, they can be identified using the cursory information found with the negatives. A cursory check of the negatives indicates that they have not been misordered or misfiled.

Each negative file folder has been identified with a letter: folders A-F are for 6 cm x 6cm negatives, and are exclusively of Hong Kong and area; folders G and H are likewise for 6 cm x 6 cm negatives, but relate to a trip to New York, Pennsylvania, Puget Sound, Seattle, and western Canadian points in 1947 and to Montreal. Neither of the latter two folders is full. The remaining three folders (X, Y, Z) are for approximately 10 x 8 format, and concern Hong Kong.
