A view of the last battle between the Tsimshian and the Haida at Fort Simpson, British Columbia in 1855. The view is an aerial view which also shows the Hudson's Bay Co. fort, the two native villages, and the HBC supply ship the Beaver. Work by Frederick Alexcee.
The work arrived in the Picture Division in 1983-1984, but the actual source of the acquisition is unknown. The work was in very poor condition.
The work has been photographed recto and verso, and in colour transparency format.
Frederick Alexcee, born in ca. 1857 and died ca. 1944, was a Tsimshian Indian Fort Simpson who was apprenticed as a sculptor and apparently was a self-taught artist
