The fonds consists of records pertaining to the musical activities of Edward Broome: autograph manuscripts of works entitled I Breathe my Love and The Siege of Cardiff Castle, a dramatic cantata; copyright royalties; scrapbook composed of a few letters, speeches, press clippings and concert programmes.

Broome, Edward, 1868-1932 : Born in Manchester, England, Edward Broome settled in Canada in 1893. He was employed as an organist and choirmaster in Brockville (Ontario), Montréal, Toronto and Calgary. He was founder and director of the Toronto Oratorio Society (1910-25). A self-taught composer, he published some one hundred works, mostly for the church.
