The fonds contains records pertaining to Andrée Blais's activities as a musician and painter. It contains, among other items, a baptismal certificate and a curriculum vitae; correspondence with André Mathieu (photographic postcards) and members of her family; approximately 100 compositions by Andrée Blais including concertos pour violon, violoncelle et piano, Honneur et Patrie for orchestra, and numerous works for voice and piano; photographs of Andrée Blais; certificates from the Cercle des artistes-peintres et sculpteurs du Québec; and paintings (mixed technique) and drawings inspired by musical themes.

Blais, Andrée, 1929- : Andrée Blais was born in Montréal and began her musical studies at the Académie Sainte-Cécile, later attending the Pensionnat des Soeurs des Saints Noms de Jésus et de Marie. She then took piano and composition courses at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Montréal and at the Institut canadien de musique, founded by Rodolphe Mathieu. She also studied conducting with Ethel Stark, conductor of the Montreal Women's Symphony Orchestra. Her compositions include the Concerto no 1 pour violoncelle et orchestre, Esquisse gaspésienne for piano, La Solitude for voice and piano, and Le Palais du poète for voice and piano. Since 1983, Andrée Blais has also worked as a painter.
