"The Peddler, an authentic incident of the pioneer days in Upper Canada" as well as an oil on canvas self-portrait three untitled portraits of Inuit; two watercolours entitled "Elmwood School, Rockliffe, Ottawa" and "Parliament Hill - 1932", all by Adam Sherriff Scott.
Collection also contains prints of "Champlain building a wall at Montreal", by Adam Sherriff Scott, "Royal William", by Adam Sherriff Scott, possibly a commission for the Royal Bank of Canada in commemoration of the centenary of transatlantic steam navigation.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Scott, Adam Sherriff, 1887-1980 : Adam Sherriff Scott (born Perth, Scotland 1887, died Montreal, Quebec 1980) studied art at the Edinburgh School of Art and emigrated to Canada in 1911 or 1912. He was a portrait painter as well as a landscape artist,but is best-known for his series of historical paintings of Canada, which he executed for Canadian Pacific, Royal Bank, and for the Public Archives of Canada.Additional information:General note:Received in 1931, 1932, 1937, from Adam Sherriff Scott, Montreal, Quebec; G.H. MacKimmie, Montreal, Quebec in 1932; Dr. Arthur Doughty, Ottawa, Ontario in 1934. The Adam Sheriff Scott self-portrait was purchased by Stephen Chizick from a descendant of the artist.
