Jeff Donovan, newspaperman, has to interview a local pianist after her recital, Lisa Sinclair. He is more impressed than he had anticipated. They eventually fall in love; she leaves town; she writes less and less and finally stops. Meanwhile, he is writing a book. A year later he finds her back again. His book is a great success. She wants him to leave her alone to fight out her own problems alone. Finally, he sees her playing the piano at a bar. She is teaching a little slum boy who will be a great pianist, for she could be only good, never great. <60mn>
