Part one begins with the following quotation from the Department of Agriculture: "Celery is one of the most important vegetable crops grown by market gardeners". An intertitle reading "March" is followed by shots of a farmer examining celery seedlings in a greenhouse. The film then takes the viewer through the steps of celery farming: preparing the ground for planting; marking straight rows; planting the celery seedlings; spraying for celery blight; bleaching the celery heads.~Part two illustrates the correct procedures for harvesting, washing and preparing the celery for market. The film also shows how to store the celery in the winter so it can be taken to market in December.
