Presque chaque comté et chaque petite ville possède maintenant son Unité Sanitaire. Un personnel dévoué travaille sans relâche à ériger une ligne de défense contre la tuberculose, le cancer, les épidémies et les sources possibles d'infection. Sans frais et sans obligation, hommes, femmes et enfants sont examinés et radiographiés; le camion sanitaire visite les écoles, les industries et se rend dans les localités les plus isolées. La lutte se poursuit sur tous les fronts. Des cours et des conférences sont donnés sur la nutrition, l'hygiène et la salubrité. Des affiches, des dépliants, des articles dans les journaux, des séances cinématographiques complètent cette campagne de médicine préventive. Le gouvernement pourvoit actuellement à la construction de sanatoriums ultra-modernes qui permettront aux populations urbaines et rurales et aux centres de colonisation de recevoir les traitements appropriés sans de trop long déplacements. Grâce à l'aide médicale ainsi apportée par les nombreux services du Ministère de la Santé, on a pu oberver un baisse appréciable de la maladie au sein de la population du Québec. <30mn>
