Fonds consists of material created and/or accumulated by the Ontario Educational Communications Authority (OECA) and its successor body, TVOntario. Included are films and videocassettes documenting polar studies and accounts of some of the men who took part in the Scott Antarctic Expedition, the British Antarctic Expedition of 1898-1900 and the British Commonwealth Trans-Atlantic Expedition of 1955-1958. Fonds also includes documentary films on Mackenzie King, the Tyendinaga Indian Reserve, and Mirror of Canada Past, a documentary film on the history of Canada seen through documents, photos and film of the Public Archives. Also included are documentaries entitled Hospital Amazonico, Who Owns Space?; Thoroughbred; Island Tower; Loco Magistri; Everybody Wants a Railway; ... And Not To Yield; Would You Believe; Great Chinese Exhibition; and Magic in the Sky.

Fonds also consists of several episodes from the OECA series entitled Polar Studies; interviews and film excerpts accumulated by Elwy Yost at TVOntario for the television series Saturday Night at the Movies; and programs from the series Man And His Environment, With the USSR For Eternity, World In Conflict, For the Record, The Education of Mike McManus, Learning to Be, Teacher's Rights, Violence Brief, Speaking of Books, Workers' Bosses and Govt, McGee and Company, Moving Images, and North of 60, Renouveau Pédagogique, and The School Library in Action.

In addition, fonds includes sound recordings documenting the 1973 Speech Association Convention held in Toronto, Ontario.

TVOntario : TV Ontario is an educational television network operated by the province of Ontario. It began in 1970 under the name Ontario Educational Communications Authority (OECA), broadcasting from station CICA-TV in Toronto. In the 1970s and 1980s it expanded its service across the province with the opening of rebroadcast transmitters in different locations such as Ottawa, London, Sudbury, Windsor and Kingston. The network changed its name to TV Ontario (TVO) in 1981. It began a separate French-language service, La Chaîne Française, in 1987, later renaming the service TFO. TV Ontario reports to the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. It consults with its users through five regional councils made up of volunteers, a Francophone advisory council and a Native advisory committee. TVOntario website, 2001. . 1348
