Dennison talks about his great-grandfather, John Dennison, who staked out property for a farm on the shores of Lake Doré and was assisted by the natives people in building the first Dennison homestead. He also remembers his great-uncle William, a lumberjack. Dennison follows with a discussion of the history of the settlement at Lake Doré - its sawmills, flour mills, waterwheels and canals and some of the other families such as the Shaws. Other topics include the family's first Model T Ford in 1919; going to school on snowshoes; the [Rankin] Telephone Company, installers of the first telephones in the area; and early radio programs he enjoyed. Dennison concludes with a discussion of the lumber trade in the Valley, the potash industry at Lake Doré and his mother's family, the Neils.Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
