Stamp Falls, Vancouver Island: two men cutting down burnt trees with axes and swedish fiddle; wooden A-frame and car lifting a cut log off the ground; two more burnt or dead stubs being felled with axe, swedish fiddle, and wedge. Elk Falls: men building a bridge over Englishmen's River.~Oyster River, Vancouver Island: road building; bulldozers, shovels, and trucks working and filling; large group of men sitting beside fire, eating sandwiches and drinking from mugs; bridge scaffolding; road construction.~John Dean Park, Vancouver Island: men sawing fat logs into foot-thick slabs; chiselling out slate to make gate posts; burning slash beside a pond; walking across bridge; working on a log-framed gazebo. Glints Lake, Vancouver Island: rows of tents with slashfires burning along the lakeshore. Koksilah River, Vancouver Island: bell ringing at Camp 17; men racing for the dining hall; clearing the forest with the river in the background; peeling logs and carrying them away; burning slash; building a road with a shovel and wheelbarrow; cooks clowning around at the waterfalls; striking shot of dead trees, burnt and black.
