Collection consists of photographs of ships and personnel of the Royal Canadian Navy and the US Navy, St John's Nfld., Sydney and Shelburne, N.S., ca. 1943-45: HMS or HMCS Ships Caraquet, Columbia, Iroquois, Melville, Sarnia, Stratford, Trillium, Trois Rivieres, Vegreville, Q-094, HMS Papua, HMS United, USS Tenacity, HMC Ships Assiniboine, Duner, Grand'mere, Hespeler, Pictou, St. Catharines, Skeena. Also includes images from the reunion of the veterans of the HMCS Trois Rivieres.

Hampson, Maurice F : Maurice F. Hampson was born in Calgary in 1924 and joined the Navy there April 4th, 1942, where he requested training as a Radio Operator. He was drafted to St. Hyacinthe, Quebec July 15th, qualified as an Ordinary Telegraphist Sept 5th and to Telegraphist Nov 7th. He was transferred to HMCS Stadacona in Halifax December 1st and transferred to HMS Wastwater, a Naval Trawler, the next day, replacing one of the British Radio Operators who had taken sick. He was the only Canadian in the crew. Hampson served aboard the ship Lord Kelvin (repairing the Trans-Atlantic Cable), then returned to Halifax on Jan 16th, 1943 where he was transferred to the Naval Radio Station at St John's Newfoundland. Next serving at the Radio Station at Bay's Bulls. on Feb 6th 1943 he was transferred to the HMCS Trois Rivieres, a minesweeper used for Convoy Escort where he served as Radio Operator. Hampson was discharged Oct 3, 1945 and returned home to Calgary. Maurice F Hampson letter to National Archives.
