Series consists of photographs documenting the life of Joubin, including his early life in Victoria, B.C; his years at the University of British Columbia; early mining experience in British Columbia and the north; the discovery and development of uranium sites in Ontario, especially in the Elliot Lake area; his work with the United Nations in Central and South America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Europe; his home and farm, Franmar; his villa, "Villa Flora" in Jamaica; honourary degrees, testimonial dinners; honours including the Order of Canada and Order of Ontario; his work with companies including Technical Mine Consultants, Pioneer Gold Mines of British Columbia; Algoma Mines Ltd.; Rio Tinto Company of England; and Sogepet.
The series also contains photographs of projects in Toronto, West Palm Beach; an aerial photo of Pioneer Gold Mine in B.C., ca. 1950's; Joubin with J. MacMillan and Hon. John Fraser, Speaker of the House of Commons, March 11, 1992; and aerial photos of Algoma, Ont.
Other photographs include Joubin's University of British columbia students, ca. 1060's; views of the Whitesail Lake area, B.C.; Little Quirke mine, Algoma; the mine and town of Elliot Lake; construction and dedication of the W.H. Collins Centres, Elliot Lake; Sogepet and petroleum production in northern Canada; Southampton Island, NWT; Eskimo Point, Rankin Inlet; Hudson's Bay Petroleum drilling vessel, Pentagone; the Snowbird Mine project, Fort St. James, B.C.; and material connected with the history and mines at Cobalt, Ont., which includes photomicrographs and x-rays of minerals.
Finally, the series also depicts the locations in which Joubin prospected and the mining operation with which he was associated. Views include the Bridge River (Lillooet, B.C.); geologists Erik and Emil Christianson in 1986 and 1989; Sally Halet; the office front of the Canadian Institute for Radiation Safety, Elliot Lake, Ont.; Mildred Fahrni(?); Joubin in a dug-out canoe, ca. 1934 while prospecting for mercury in B.C.; Pronto Uranium Mines, Elliot Lake, Ont., 1955; as well as an underground view of the Pioneer Gold Mine, Bridge River, B.C. The series also contains a watercolour of Black Eagle of Kamloops, B.C.; a sketch of Joubin's California birthplace, 1976; a drawing of Joubin's winter residence, Ocho Rios, Jamaica; a cartoon of RIX mine shaft; a mock-up poster design; postcards of Heffernan Pharmacy; and a 25th Anniversary Medal of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Dora de Pedery Hunt and presented to Franc Joubin.
