Deed from the Chippewa Nation at Detroit to William Dawson of 900 acres on the south-eastern side of the River St. Clair, dated at Detroit 19 September 1780. The document was registered in the Register of Detroit, No. 2, folio 64. Subsequently, a sale of that tract of land by Dawson to Thomas Smith of Sandwich, 7 February 1790, was confirmed by the Chippewa. In addition, the Chippewa made a further grant of land to the children of Thomas Smith: Charles, Anne and Catharine. The document is signed with the totems of Annemiken and Masqueash, chiefs of the Chippewa Nation, on behalf of their people. Also signed by William Miller. Originals, 2 pages.
