Roads and Transportation Association of Canada : The Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) is a non-profit association of transportation stakeholders in government, private industry, and educational institutions. The TAC provides a neutral forum for gathering or exchanging ideas, information and knowledge in support ofmtechnical guidelines and practices. The Association was originally founded in 1914 as the Canadian Good Roads Association, with a mission to establish a superior national network. It was also a driving force behind the establishment of the Trans-Canada Highway. Later, the Association became involved with specialized technical activities, thus motivating a name change to the Roads and Transportation Association of Canada in 1970, and the TAC in 1990. Today, members of the TAC include federal, provincial and municipal transportation departments; other government departments; shippers and freight carriers; passengermcarriers; contractors and road-builders; consultants and academic and research interests.
