Series consists of moving images as follows: fiction features and shorts, documentaries, animation, news and promotional films acquired from various sources, notably in Canada, Great Britain and the United States. Among the subjects covered in the non-fiction field are the arts, sciences, sociology, leisure time activities, industry and the economy, space exploration, war and the military. Canadian and world leaders, including American presidents and British royalty, who were active in the post-World War II years, are featured in many films. The fiction segment of the collection includes works from several European countries as well as South American countries and the United States. Some of the newsfilm dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, 1910s-1960s.
