Description:

This film shows many of the people and events at the International Plowing Match of 1924 in Brampton, Ontario. First to be introduced are some of the officers of the Ontario Plowmen's Association: R. H. Abrahams, 1st Vice President; W. H. Paterson, President; J. L. Wilson, Managing Director; and, J. J. Duffus, 2nd Vice President. The viewer is then shown the busy grounds of the match. To emphasize the presence of scientific innovation, the viewer is shown a plough drawn by bullocks, then by horses, and finally by a tractor. Shots of the event show crowds watching the match with great interest; a boy named Donald McGregor winning a prize for ploughing with a tractor; Lietenant-Governor, Colonel the Honourable Henry Cockshutt ploughing; children and women watching; the Honourable W. H. Price, K. C. Provincial Treasurer inspecting a team of prize-winning horses; and, many more shots of plowing, spectators and judges. <7mn 36s>

The event was likely filmed annually.~2. 1927 Catalogue description: "In many respects the most successful of the annual international matches under the auspices of the Ontario Plowmen's Association was held in Brampton, Ontario, 1924. One of the most interesting features was the large numbers of Indian Farmers present, many of whom were prize winners."~3. See ISN 243604 for another version of this film.~4.
