Fonds consists of home movies shot by Patton and footage of views of Queen's Park.

Also included in fonds are photographs depicting the career of George E. Patton in the motion picture industry; Ontario Government Motion Picture Bureau staff and equipment; portraits of Patton and colleagues; and Mary Pickford.

Patton, George Ernest,1893-1976 : George Ernest Patton (1883-1975) was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England in 1893. Patton moved to Canada in 1913 to attend the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph. He was hired by the Ontario Motion Picture Bureau as director in 1922. He married Florence Patricia Bond on 24 November 1923 in Guelph, Ontario. They had one child, a son Christopher. When the Bureau was disbanded by the Ontario Government in 1934, Patton left the film business, thereafter finding work in radio where he wrote several dramas. He was also an actor who performed in various amateur theatrical groups at Hart House Theatre in Toronto, on the CKGW radio program Let's All Go To The Music Hall, and in the Canadian feature film Carry On Sergeant! (1928). Later in life George Patton moved back to England and died there on 30 June 1975.

Library and Archives Canada received the 28mm film reels among the films purchased from Toronto stock footage company Graphic Consultants in 1972.
