Cable News Network : The Cable News Network (CNN), a 24-hour global news and information television network, was launched in 1980 by Turner Broadcasting of Atlanta, a company owned by Ted Turner. CNN set up bureaus across the United States, and then around the world, beginning with Rome and London. In January 1982 Turner initiated a second CNN service called Headline news, and in 1985 added bureaus in Bonn, Moscow, Cairo and Tel Aviv. Turner sold CNN to Time Warner in 1995.
