Collection consists of early documentation of the New Brunswick sardine fishing industry including wier trap constuction, netting sardine runners, skiff, working schooners, sardine canning and the operation of Connors Bros. Limited. Also included are theatrical trailers for World War II war bond victory loans, feature attractions, New Brunswick Censor Board Certificate of Approval, Christmas greetings, theatre safety and God Save the King.

Connors Bros. Limited (Blacks Harbour, N.B.) : Connors Bros. Limited is a fish processing company located in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick. The company was formed by Patrick and Lewis Connors in 1889. Lewis Connors had purchased land in the area in 1885 and began canning a variety of products.

Lewis and Patrick expanded the company to include the canning of sardines and the company was incorporated with Lewis as President and Patrick as Vice-President. A new company was incorporated on October 23, 1923 but retained the same name. A. Neil McLean was elected President and Patrick Connors was Vice-President.

Lewis Connors left Blacks Harbour and with his sons, Bernard and Edwin, opened a new sardine factory in West Saint John under the name of Lewis Connors & Sons Limited. A price war between the two companies led to Connors Bros. Limited purchasing Lewis Connors & Sons in 1925.

Connors Bros. Limited was purchased by Weston Resources in 1967. It became the largest sardine factory in the world and a major international seafood processor. Brunswick sardines are probably the company's best known product. In a restructuring move in 2001, George Weston Limited put Connors Bros. on the sales block.
