Canadian Federation of Mayors and Municipalities : The Canadian Federation of Mayors and Municipalities (FCMM) resulted from a union between the Union of Canadian Municipalities (UCM) and the Dominion Conference of Mayors (DCM) in 1937. The Federation had its beginnings in the 1901 first national meeting of municipal leaders, otherwise known as the UCM. Since this first meeting, the municipal governments have maintained a strong role in lobbying the federal government to include municipal concerns in policy development and decision making. In August 1976 the FCMM became known as the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). The FCM is located in Ottawa, Ontario. "About FCM: Brief History." 2002.
