Chrysdale, Joseph, 1917-1982 : Joseph Chrysdale (Joe Crysdale for broadcasting purposes) was born in 1917. Chrysdale began his broadcasting career in 1939 with CKOC in Hamilton, Ontario. In 1944 he joined CKCL in Toronto, Ontario, later renamed CKEY, where he remained director of sports until 1961. In 1961 Chrysdale moved to CFTO, becoming the first broadcaster to announce televised baseball in Toronto. In later years he did freelance work as a sportscaster with several radio stations including CFRB and CJMR. Joseph Chrysdale died March 1982 in Toronto at the age of 65 years.
