This sub-series contains the Institute's library of resource materials on a variety of themes related to the family, such as: family life education (1957-1970); family life education - bibliography (1963-1969); medicine (1958-1969); mental health; alcoholism and drug addiction; family law - Ontario Law Reform Commission (1965-1968); family Law - Newfoundland (1967-1969); social surveys - rural (1969); social surveys - communities (1960-1967); copies of briefs to the Royal Commission on the Status of Women (1968); housing; medical research (1967-1969); day care (1969-1971); child/youth; juvenile delinquency (1943, 1961-1967); urban studies (1965-1970); and poverty (1963-1970).

The sub-series includes the following research study reports: 'Recherche sur la famille dans un cadre urbain et rural' (1972); the quality of working life (1973); 'One-parent family in Canada' by Doris E. Guyatt (1977); 'Lumières sur l'amour familial' avec chapitres sur le mariage, la sexualité, la famille et la société pas l'Association des Parents Catholiques du Québec (1973); 'Men on relief: a study of 440 unemployed men receiving social assistance in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Ottawa' by The Canadian Council on Social Development, Ottawa (1971); and other reports from Ontario and Québec universities (1966-1970). A booklet entitled 'Understanding your community' by Desmond M. Connor, Antigonish, N.S. (1964); a National Museum of Canada publication entitled 'Social Networks in Great Whale River: notes on an Eskimo, Montagnais-Naskapi, and Euro-Canadian Community' by John J. Honigmann (Bulletin No. 178, Department of Northern Affairs and National Resources, 1962); 'The Lower Town Project (Ottawa) - report to the Canadian Council for Urban and Regional Research by Jim Lotz, Research Director (1967), and 'Étude portant sur quelques aspects socio-economiques de vie des jeunes familles étudiantes à l' Université Laval, Québec,' préparé par Le Comité D'Étude de L'Association des Femmes Diplomées des Universités Section de Québec (Août 1967) also form part of this sub-series.
